Happiness Is.... Nothing is more rewarding than watching an animal, that would otherwise be uncared for, find a new and loving home. This page is just for those instances where paths cross and lives are changed. I hope you enjoy each and every story. These are of pets I have fostered or taken care of through the rescue process. This page is definitely due for an update so forgive me...hopefully one more each day and we'll catch up soon! If you have a story you'd like to share, please email Melissa at melissa@rsvpacadiana.org .

| Sirr Sirr was united with his new family this afternoon (Nov. 13, 2006) at Roicy. No one recognized him as the scrawny dog from a month ago. His new family is a very sweet couple that met him at PetSmart during an adoption day November 12, 2006. They are both very nice and asked lots of questions. I believe they truly have his best interests at heart and will make him very happy. It was hard to let him go, but knowing he has a great home makes every effort worth it. Sirr was my very first foster and I love him dearly. I know he's just what his family was looking for and we just happened to cross paths at the right time. I wish them the very best and I hope they enjoy endless hours of tug-of-war and stolen soccer balls (yes, he steals). I would like to thank ARF(www.arfla.org) for allowing me to be a part of his rescue and for financing his recovery. He's an amazing dog and they gave him a second chance. |

| Lily Lily was a rescue from Roicy Duhon and I fell in love with her when I went to take pictures. She's 7 years old and sometimes it's hard to find them homes as quickly as they need them. ARF contacted me and said that she had a home but needed a vacation in-between until her new family could come and get her from New Orleans. I had just dropped Sirr off to his new family at Roicy and picked her up that very same afternoon. She insisted on being inside so I could tell that, somewhere, she had been taken care of. She waltzed right on in and said hi to Ginger (my 2 year old Golden Retriever). She didn't pay anyone much mind until she had a good meal and a nice-size bowl of water. We played outside for a while and the days passed quickly--three to be exact. Her new family kept in close contact and were fully-prepared to bring her home. I know that she'll be happy and comfy in her new home. Yet again, a special Thank You to ARF (www.arfla.org) for providing this lovely lady a new start. |

| Mardi This young lad was also rescued from Roicy Duhon on Nov. 17, 2006. He is sponsored by OBAH (Operation Bring Animals Home). He has a family in Jacksonville, Fl and they'll be taking him on as soon as he's been fully vetted. Mardi (for Mardi Gras) is a great dog with lots of personality and charm. He competes for our attention whenever he thinks he can get away with it. He loves playing with my young children and even listens to them when they tell him to "Sit". My 5 year old told him to sit for this picture.. He is quite active and loves to be loved, as most labs do. They call or write nearly every day to get updates on his care and to find out if we've learned anything new! His new family is very anxious to see him so we're spoiling him rotten 'til we can finish his vetting and drive him down there. I'll be thrilled to deliver their living Christmas present just before Old St. Nick arrives!! |

| Megyn and Graham Megyn and Graham were both rescued from Roicy Duhon ACC in December. Megyn (top) is quite a dog. She loves kids and other dogs. She's very playful and expressive. She's missed already!!! She's enjoying her new foster home in Georgia along with Graham (bottom) is the male that was rescued just a week after Megyn. Graham is a goofy dog that entertains himself if need be. Just a cool spot and a nice stick to chew on and he's in heaven. Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief and Rescue took these two angels under their wings and they're doing wonderful. If you're interested in adopting either of these beauties, please contact CBRRR (http://www.cbrrescue.org/) or Melissa at melissa@rsvpacadiana.org . |

| Abbey
Abbey was rescued from Roicy Duhon in November 2006 by APAWS. I took pictures of her for Roicy's petfinder site and instantly fell in love. I thought for sure she would be adopted because she was fully vetted. I mean, vaccinations, spay, everything! So, I got a message saying that she wasn't adopted and her time was up. She was rescued but needed a foster right away. I picked her up the next day and I was surprised becaue she seemed much larger in the pictures. I took her to my mom's and made sure she had everything she needed. I asked my mom to bring her over on Thanksgiving so my husband could see her. She never left! My hubby liked her and the clincher was when my 5-year-old told me that she was his dog. She even got my 2-year-old Golden Retriever to play. So, Abbey stays here. She's needed a lot of training but is very loving. The bottom photo is our Santa Paws picture. She was perfectly content in Santa's lap. APAWS (www.apawspets.org) : Thank you for saving her!! Update: Abbey is an amazing little girl. There was a family outside of Detroit, MI that had just lost one of their beloved family pets. Their remaining family dog was very depressed and not doing well at all. They inquired about Abbey and she was on her way within three days. Instantly, she was attached to Sid and her new mom and dad. I'll update her photos soon. She's now Abbey Vance and truly made a difference in the life of this family. We miss her dearly, but we're certain God used us as a pit stop until she was able to get home for good. |

| Holly Holly was rescued from Roicy Duhon around Thanksgiving 2006. She was a little underweight and had a respiratory infection but otherwise healthy. Holly was kept in boarding for a while because she needed to get better so she could be transported to NY. Holly is super affectionate and loves to be told what a wonderful dog she is. She was shy and a bit skiddish. She was on a transport that had to stop and drop her off in Atlanta because she was coughing. She should be going home 1/5/07 and her foster couldn't be happier. Holly was rescued by Rudy's Rescue out of New York. They've taken good care of her and can't wait to see her in person! If you want more info about Holly or you would like to adopt her, please contact Rudy's Rescue (www.rudysrescue.org) or Melissa at melissa@rsvpacadiana.org . |
 | Draper Draper was rescued from Roicy Duhon around Thanksgiving 2006. Draper was severely underweight (as you can see). The top picture was taken a week after he began to recover at nearly 35lbs. That's unheard of for a 1 yr old lab. These before and after pictures speak for themselves. It took Draper quite a while to recover from Pneumonia, but once he did, Abbey (above) reminded him of what being a puppy is all about. He was aggressive with other dogs as well as his food for a few weeks until he realized he was safe. This guy has a special place for us. My husband decided that he (and WE) just couldn't let him go after finding a home for him 3 times---and we just couldn't say goodbye. I love this DOG. He's amazing, affectionate, playful, great with kids and all-around happy to be alive. These are the stories that make the heartaches in rescue fade away. Draper, my boy, you're home sweetie. |
