Company history
This is the part where I tell you all about how RSVP got started. I originally got involved with rescue when I was looking for a companion for my Golden Retriever. One thing led to another and before I realized it, I was working in animal rescue. I love this job because it's rewarding, I can do it in my own time and it doesn't take rocket science. The only pre-requisites are a lotta of love and a little finesse. RSVP is stricly volunteer-based. I network with several rescues, transports, volunteers and animal-lovers across the country and Canada (affectionately called Canajuns). I strongly feel that if there were more education and coordination in the community, with better programs for volunteers, that we could be more effective. It's important to know what you can contribute and stick to that. Be careful not to overload yourself. I created this organization to help other rescues and volunteers. If you don't have anyone to lean on, fostering, transporting, and volunteering can take a lot of effort. I will be advocating for our area volunteers because they need all the help and support they can get. We are blessed to have several supporters that aren't local. They provide us with funds, transport and a laugh or two to help us get through the day. If you are looking for a way to help but simply lack the time, our four-legged friends are appreciative of anything you wish to donate. If it is a monetary donation you wish to give, please click the donation link and specify what you would like your donation contributed to. If you have supplies (like bleach, towels, blankets, etc.) you would like to offer, you may send an email via the contact page and we can arrange pick-up or drop-off. We also have a great need for vaccinations, medications, and procedures (veterinary care). Many of the animals that come to us are sick and need immediate care in order to thrive. You can always check the Pets in Need page for those extreme cases. If interested, please email melissa@rsvpacadiana.org. Thank you for your interest in our little family. |
